First announced at the 2012 SDCC Guardians of the Galaxy will be the next Marvel comic to be made into a live action movie. The team aren’t one of Marvels well known group but are one of the most interesting being mainly comprised of aliens apposed to the usual mutants and super soldier.
James Gunn who was an uncredited director on the 1996 Tromeo and Juliet movie has signed up to direct the first movie which has a release date in August 2014.
The movie team is made up of Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora. It’s not been confirmed if this will cross over to the Avengers universe but it is highly likely with a joint enemy in Thanos who showed up in the end of the first Avengers movie.
