Green Lantern Movie

It looks like it might be coming close to being the Green Lantern’s turn to have his own movie. Like a few of the films in pre-production at the moment any hard facts are all up in the air at the moment.

Although one thing we could count on would be that the film will be based on either the first Green Lantern Alan Scott or Hal Jordon who was the green dude in the First Flight cartoon. The film will bring us one step closer to having the full Justice League line-up in a movie.

Out of all the DC comic characters the Green Lantern is probably the most ambiguous as there have been several and fairly different takes on the character. The one thing I would like to see is a good history to the story and a focus on the origin of the ring along with its powers and responsibility to its owner.

The movie already has a director tied to it in the name of Martin Campbell who has directed The Mask of Zorro and and GoldenEye which should prove to set him as a great action director with an awesome imagination for the film.

For the Green Lantern himself it looks like we may have Ryan Reynolds set for the role. This is a fairly controversial choice by the casting as if all goes to plan he could be the star of the biggest film based on DC comics in 2011 as well as staring in one of Marvels biggest movies of the year Deadpool in which he will be playing the title role.

Recent history shows us actors are lucky to get a part in one comic book movie but to star in two in the same year which are being backed by different comic book companies is unprecedented.
