As far as CGI and computer effects go in a movie, The Green Lantern could have more than the Transformers movies.
The Green Lantern movie is set partially in space with most of the cast being CGI aliens along with Ryan Reynolds playing the Hal Jordan Green Lantern who has a CGI costume. With all the CGI involved in this movie it would be hard not to make it in 3D.
Entertainment Weekly has the first officially released shots of Ryan Reynolds in the CGI costume on this months cover. We previously saw what the costume could look like in concept art released a few months ago.
It’s unlikely to content with Nolans take on the Dark Knight but it could be the dark horse comic book movie of the year. With Ryan’s popularity rising in the comic book community after he played Deadpool in the Wolverine movie, which was one of the few redeeming parts of the film.
The general release date for the movie is set for June 17, 2011, which will be a great time of year for comic book movies.
