For a TV show based on a comic book character Smallville did surprisingly well. Giving the biggest comic icon a new origin story and reinventing parts of his comic career to adapt to a whole new audience it was a massive success.
Ten seasons on Smallville finished and left a void for DC to fill some how. Wonder Woman failed to make it past the pilot and the Green Arrow crept up.
The Green arrow TV show Cunningly called “Arrow” follows Oliver Queen in an almost Batman begins type setting. His parents die and he is left to fend for himself and to take back the city he grew up in from gangsters and all sorts of criminals.
The trailer for the show has been a total success in terms of selling the show to comic fans and opening the character up to a whole new TV audience. It’s got so much potential with a solid story, guns and that dark side to the hero people love at the moment.
The pilot will air towards the end of September 2012 which can’t come soon enough. Marvel have totally dominated movies recently but DC have finally mastered TV. Well until the Hulk TV show is released next year.
