Superman 2 villain will be Brainiac

Now without saying it’s Brainiac we’ve seen James Gunn give enough hints at who it could be and with the latest share of the script it pretty much confirms all the theories. It’s the cross section of an anatomical brain.

If that’s not enough Gunn has mentioned in an interview with Howard Stern that although it was a sequel to Superman it wasn’t necessarily a Superman centric movie and mentioned Lex would play a much bigger part.

We saw a post not too long after Superman was released which was a picture of Superman standing next to Lex in his power suit. Now we knew this would feature sooner or later but it looks like Gunn is going full steam ahead and pulling no punches when it comes to featuring key elements of the modern Superman comics.

From what we know of the story so far it will revolve around Lex and Superman teaming up to fight a much bigger threat, this would point to either Darkseid or Brainiac and with the cross section of the human head and brain on the script it doesn’t shout Darkseid.

In the comics we’ve seen Lex seek help to deal with Superman from Earths metas and also summoning Brainiac who then goes on to double cross Lex.

The new movie will be titled Man of Tomorrow and we might assume it refers to Superman but it could also point at a redemption story for Lex in the works.

At the moment it’s an exciting time to be a long time Superman fan. Introducing Brainiac opens the doors to loads of potential story lines including things like the bottled city of Kandor and rebuilding Krypton. It would be a huge leap in the DC movies.

The DC MMO launched in 2010 and had a fairly similar story which was pretty amazing for a game at the time.
