"The best Marvel TV series yet"

Answer: The best Marvel TV show ever made!
Yeah I needed to think about that a lot as it was close with Daredevil but overall I think Spider-Noir takes the number 1 spot.
The original Spider-Man Noir comic was only created in 2009 by writers David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky and artist Carmine Di Giandomenico. Although the original comic may have gone under the radar for a lot of people Spider-noir played a big part in Dan Slott’s modern masterpiece Spider-verse in 2014.
For me Dans Spider-verse series was at the time peak comic awesomeness. I loved it page to page, it was like nothing I’d read before. It was original and celebrated every incarnation and variation of Spider-man most people could name. The inclusion of Toei / Japanese Spider-man and Leopardon and Spider-ham was unforgettable.
This series is an 8 part show developed by Oren Uziel for Amazon’s Prime Video. It’s available in both Color and Black and white versions although I’d recommend the black and white version, I’ve watched both and it was made for the monochrome visuals. It’s absolutely beautifully made and really makes the visuals pop.
From first glances the series starts a little slow but I think that’s due to having to introduce a lot of new content to the audience, it’s not like a typical Spider-man or Batman story where we all know how they start off, this is a fairly original character and his origin seems a bit different to the comics. Saying that this series seems to spend the first few episodes introducing the environment and characters then jumps into Spider-noir / Ben Reilly origin around episode 4/5 and it’s pure gold at this point.
One of the things I love about this series is how self contained but also full of action it is. It’s not setup with a slow start to get a 10 series deal, the whole series is self contained, it’s like a well paced piece of A/V art. I hope they get a series 2 but if they don’t I feel content with what we got.
The series doesn’t focus around one main villain but several and several really epic characters too, we get a 1930’s version of Spider-man, Black cat, Rhino, Electro, Sandman and a few others too. It’s filmed in a really original and beautiful way and I don’t think we’re going to see another series like this for a long time.
It’s amazing that Nicolas Cage did the voice for Spider-Noir in the 2018 Into the Spider-verse but that they managed to bring him back for the live action TV show is just a testament to his performance. We were robbed of Nicolas Cage as Superman but have been given the gift of seeing him play a variant of Spider-man.
Overall it’s a totally unmissable show and even though 2026 is a bit year for comic book movies with Spider-man: Brand new day and also Supergirl I think this might be the best comic book adaptation of the year.
Where do we go from here though, well I think there is still another series or two of Spider-Noir content, we could see a few more villain incarnations show up, maybe even see some 1930/40’s heroes show up, imagine how it could work with Wolverine or Captain America.
I don’t know if there is a plan for more Spider-verse series, I’d love to think there is a plan for more Toei / Japanese Spider-man too at some point.
