How much does being an Avenger pay

There have been a lot of reports over the years about how much the cast of the Avengers get paid per movie but the latest release of wages for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron are probably the most surprising. Interest in actors wages started when Robert Downey Jr only got paid $500,000 for the first Iron Man movie but since has more than made up for it.

The latest report from Age of Ultron

Considering the screen time and contribution to the movie the numbers do look a little off. Both RDJ and Johansson walked away with a lot more than their co stars although a lot of their parts were CGI and body doubles.

One reason for the massive pay differences could be that RDJ has been in more Marvel movies than the others and has become the face of the Marvel Studios movies around the world. Another is that he is one of the hardest to write out of the series, Chris Evans has both the Winter Soldier and Falcon who could be the next Captain America. The Hulk has been played by a few actors already and Hawk Eye although he had a bigger part this time is always a supporting actor in these movies.

It’s surprising that Johansson got paid so much more than Mark Ruffalo since they did share a lot of the same screen time. With Marvel reluctant to give Black Widow a high in demand solo movie or bring out more merchandise for the character it’s good to know they still have a lot of respect for the importance of her in the series.

Another thing to note is how many movies RDJ and Scarlett Johansson have done with good friend and exclusive producer of many of the marvel movies Jon Favreau.

Considering how much actors used to get paid for comic book movies it will be interesting to see how the next generation of super hero actors get paid.
