Cosplay Spotlight : Jessica Nigri

In the last few years the whole worlds whole outlook on cosplay has changed. Seeing people dressed as Stormtroopers doesn’t need to be the highlight of the convention as it’s opened up to a whole new group of epic creative cosplayers. Part of that has been thanks to Jessica Nigri one of the most iconic geeks in the world.

Jessica Nigri made her first cosplay appearence at San Diego Comic Con in 2009 where she turned heads dressed as a Picachu the likes we have never seen before. She was then known as the Picachu girl but since San Diego she has become a world wide cosplay icon and inspired thousands of fans around the world to not just admire the elite geeks but join in and dress up yourself as cosplay is for everyone.

She grew up in New Zealand where they made the Lord of the Rings movies before moving to America and is a self confessed exercise nut which could be the secret to how she has so much energy at each of the conventions or events she goes to.

Cosplaying at conventions has just been the start for Jessica as she’s become a world wide star as a cosplayer, model, actress, gamer girl and journalist interviewing guests such as Robert Kirkman at conventions.

She designs and makes most of her own costumes and I’ve tried to keep track of each of her costumes but there seems to be too many to count. But here some of her most famous costumes which you would may have seen on various sites or though the IGN award she won.

Cosplay Star Jessica Nigri

For a cosplayer she’s made big waves even acting in a spoof advert Lollipop Chainsaw: Zom-Be-Gone showing the world shes pretty good at anything she puts her mind to which is why she’s the first in our Cosplay Spotlight.

Thanks to social media she has also been able to stay in touch with her fans all 260,000+ of them on Facebook alone which I think is great as she always seems to have time to talk to them posting thoughts and new costume ideas.
